Some say you can't put a price on a quality education. But let's go ahead and try, anyway.
As lawmakers consider school funding levels in the 2018-19 state budget, with the forecast of additional state revenue of between $675 million and $750 million, they would do well to remember that school districts will need an increase of $1.5 billion from the state just to maintain current services and programs for students. And, in fact, additional capital is needed beyond that to fund the many necessary enhancements to school districts across New York State.
