On Tuesday, May 15th, our community will go to the polls to vote on the West Islip Public Schools budget for 2018-2019.
As a community, our public schools are one of our most valuable local resources. The West Islip Public Schools system, and the children and families we serve continue to be a tremendous source of pride for all of us. The West Islip Board of Education has crafted a responsible budget that maintains and even expands the program in our schools without exceeding the 2% Tax Levy Cap.
The West Islip Teachers' Association urges you to examine the school budget carefully, which can be found by clicking here.
After careful consideration of the candidates for the Board of Education Election, the West Islip Teachers' Association is proud to endorse Richard Antoniello in his bid for Board Trustee. Mr. Antoniello has resided in West Islip for over a decade with his wife and is the proud father of two young daughters. His oldest is a third grader at one of our elementary school s and his youngest recently celebrated her third birthday, Richard Antoniello is in his twentieth year as a middle school social studies teacher in the Plainview - Old Bethpage School District. As an elementary parent and a public school teacher, Mr. Antoniello is an advocate for children and parents alike and possesses the necessary skills and attributes to bring a fresh and new perspective to the Board of Education. Richard Antoniello is committed to the success of our schools and is dedicated to the community, and for that, we urge you to vote for Richard Antoniello for BOE Trustee.
Steve Gellar, our current Board of Education President, has once again earned our endorsement. Mr. Gellar has been a tireless advocate for children and for the academic program at all levels. As president of the BOE, Steve Gellar has proven himself as a fair-minded and effective leader. We urge you to vote for Steve Gellar for BOE Trustee. The polls will be open at West Islip High School from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Please vote in support of what's good for kids in West Islip.
We endorse Richard Antoniello and Steve Gellar for the Board of Education. We also think this budget is worthy of your "yes" vote. This is a budget that puts our kids first.
