This is the first time the Suffolk Regional Office is hosting such an event. Through a series of short and lively workshops on topics of interest to our newer members, our goal is to help your locals engage them in the Union culture and the importance of our Union.
The conference will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the East Wind Conference Center in Wading River. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. A buffet lunch will also be provided and there will be a happy hour reception at the conclusion of the conference. We are recommending that you select members within their first five years of working in the profession, however, you can register anyone you believe could benefit from participating. As a Local Leader, you can certainly accompany your new members and your local may send up to ten individuals. We will create a standby list for locals desiring to bring more than ten members. The cost per participant is $30.00.
Enclosed is a registration form which needs to be filled out for each attendee. We will not be utilizing an online registration for this conference. You can mail the completed forms, along with your check payable to NYSUT to the Suffolk Regional Office. Also, please note that many of these workshops are intended for all school personnel - Teachers and SRP 's. The workshops being offered are: Adulting 101; Teacher/TA Certification; NYSUT Education & Leaming Trust; Employee Retirement System; Laws That Affect Your Professional Life; Social Media; Student Debt Clinic; Teacher Centers; Tenure; and Teacher Retirement System.
