NYSUT will host a retirement seminar at Pierson High School in Sag Harbor on Monday, December 18, 2023. Eric Iberger, who is a NYSTRS Board Member, and President of the Bayport-Bluepoint Teachers’ Association, will be the presenter. Eric presented a retirement seminar to West Islip teachers at Udall Road Middle School earlier this year. Please see the flyer below for more information.
NYSTRS and Social Security Accounts
The New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) offers many online resources to help plan for retirement. Whether in your first year or near retirement, every teacher should have an NYSTRS account. To register and have access to your personal NYSTRS information, follow these three steps:
1. Click on the link below.
https://secure.nystrs.org/MyNYSTRS/register
2. Enter your NYSTR EmpID #. This number can be found on your Benefit Profile, or you can call (800) 348-7298, Ext. 6250 to ask for your number.
3. Enter the last four digits of your social security and your date of birth.
It’s quick, and it's easy. If you haven’t signed up for an account, please do so today! Once registered, you will have access to your personal retirement system information and the valuable resources available through NYSTRS.
In addition, every teacher should have a My Social Security Account. You can request a replacement social security card, estimate future benefits, or check your history of earnings for accuracy. It is quick and easy to set up an account. Click on the link below to get started.
