On June 9th the teachers of WITA voted to make changes to the Teachers Chapter Constitution due to the Janus Decision. The other chapters of WITA, the nurses, teacher aids, and teacher assistants, have also changed their individual constitutions.
We as a collective group also fall under an umbrella constitution that needs to be changed as well. Therefore, on Wednesday, October 20th we will be voting on our umbrella constitution changes. There was a presentation of these changes at the general membership meeting held on May 26th. The proposed changes to the umbrella constitution may be viewed on our website. Anything highlighted in blue is addition and anything written in red is being deleted. If you haven’t done so already, please familiarize yourself with the West Islip Teachers Umbrella Constitution before the vote next Wednesday.
