The West Islip PTA Council held its annual Founder’s Day Award Ceremony on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, in the West Islip High School Cafeteria. Founder’s Day celebrates the legacy of PTA founders Alice McLellan Birney, Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and Selena Sloan Butler and honors those who carry their work forward. This year, the PTA honored the following West Islip teachers:
- Kim Kennedy – Bayview Elementary
- Kurt Tummel – Manetuck Elementary
- Melinda Monahan – Oquenock Elementary
- Christina Labatte – Paul J. Bellew Elementary School
- Margaret Okurowski – Beach Street Middle School
- Alyssa O’Connor – Udall Road Middle School
- Maria Cristantello – West Islip High School
- Megan Rooney – SEPTA Award
