We also want to thank all those members who attended the ‘Fund our Schools’ rally on Saturday, March 16th, to fully fund the Foundation Aid and restore the ‘Save Harmless’ policy. Getting involved in an act like this is an easy but essential way to support our colleagues and profession. In a future where the NYS Tax Cap Law leaves public education reliant on state aid to fund an increasing portion of school budgets, we must work to ensure Long Island, and especially West Islip, receives the funds necessary to protect the services students need and the staff who provide them. This was essential in restoring the cuts proposed to NYS Foundation Aid and preserving the “Save Harmless” policy, which we won back in this year’s NYS State Budget. Thank you to all who attended!
