As you are certainly aware, on this past August 7th, Governor Cuomo announced that all schools in New York State are cleared to open for classes in September.

While we welcome the news of being able to return to the classroom, we know there are many questions and concerns that need to be addressed regarding health and safety. We continue to be in constant contact with the district seeking answers and assurances.

For us, there is nothing more important than the safety, health and well being of our members, the rest of the staff, and the students and families we serve. This school year will be unlike any we have ever experienced before, and its success is dependent on our patience, good will and grace towards one another as we work to find "best practice' in this new normal.

Overwhelmingly, the medical advice most critical to our health is the following:

 1.  Wear a mask.

 2.  Practice Social Distancing.

 3.  Wash hands often.

We'd like to thank the numerous WITA members that have continued to serve on committees developing the district's education plans for the coming school year. Not only have these individuals given a tremendous amount of their personal time, they have brought incredible insight and wisdom to this very difficult process.

The WITA Executive Board and the building delegates will continue to work diligently to address concerns and find answers to your questions. It is our goal to achieve an outcome that is both educationally sound and as safe as possible.

Please enjoy the rest of your summer break.
