Dear WITA Member,
This is a strange time we are living in. None of us have ever faced the uncertainty that is in front of us. We probably feel anxious. We probably feel stressed. We need to lean on each other. We need to support each other. We will simply do the best we can. Keep in mind, every single teacher in New York is going through the exact same thing. You are not alone.
How you choose to teach during this time is up to you as long as you follow some basic guidelines that were laid out to us in the email. We have options. We need to get creative and be flexible. There is so much up in the air right now. How will we grade all this work? How will we keep track of it? What if the students don't complete assignments? We will work TOGETHER to solve these and many other questions that will arise.
We have been working with the district and bringing to them your questions and concerns. We worked all morning with DO to help Dawn construct what she sent out to our teachers and we/you should feel comfortable to know that. We are taking it a week or two at a time while we are following the guidelines of the state. Please know WITA is working with your best interests, and the best interests of our students, in mind. We will keep you posted on the updates as often as they happen.
Just a thought. Maybe, just maybe, we will all come out of this as better teachers, better co-workers, and better human beings. God Bless and stay safe.
