On Tuesday November 7th we will be going to the voting booths to preserve one of our most valuable public service assets, our pensions. We should be educating ourselves and those around use in preparation of this major event. You have been receiving literature on the Constitutional Convention (Con Con) over the past few weeks. Make sure you are well informed about what is at stake and please talk to your family and friends about the ramifications of a Constitutional Convention. We ask that these interactions are face to face conversations to ensure that people understand the severity of this issue and what is at stake. Discuss the importance of voting NO on a Constitutional Convention, do not show up to the polling place on November 7th alone. Bring your spouse. Bring your children. Bring a friend. We cannot leave this to chance. If each and every one of us does our part we can and will beat this. Together we will persevere.

As we draw closer to Election Day we still have work to do. Information on a Constitutional Convention will continue to be disseminated to you. Your building delegates have been asked to speak to each member in their building about the possibility of a Constitutional Convention and what the ramifications are. Phone banks have been scheduled for Monday-10/23, Tuesday-10/24, Monday-10/30, Thursday-11/2 and Monday-11/6. All phone banks run from 3:30-6:30 at the NYSUT Suffolk Regional Office. We are asking that a couple volunteers from each building find the time to participate in making these important phone calls.

Below, I have included a picture of what Proposition 1 will look like on the ballot for you to review. In the near future a full sample ballot will be posted on your faculty room bulletin board. It is important to remember that to Vote No on the Constitutional Convention you must flip your ballot over. Please look it over so you know exactly what will be on the ballot on November 7th when you head to the polls.   REMEMBER TO VOTE NO on a Constitutional Convention (Prop 1) on Tuesday November 7th.
