Over the past week members have begun receiving e-mails encouraging them to drop out of the union. This is not a surprise as we knew these types of attacks would be coming. We can and should expect more e-mails along with phone calls, workplace and house visits with the same message. Groups like the Mackinac Center-run by Betsy DeVos and her family, the Empire Center, the Freedom Foundation and the National Right to Work Center are just a few of the groups who will be pushing messages like this. If you are contacted by them or anyone else with a similar message they want one thing only-to break our union.
No matter what is said, that is their sole goal.
Our union's ability to fight for our contract, protect our rights and our students' rights comes from everyone lending their voice and participating in the union.
If you receive an e-mail like this, please let us know, but otherwise delete or ignore. Clicking on a link, sending a testy reply or any other action will just result in them contacting you more frequently.
Again, we've been preparing for this day for quite some time and we will prove to all that our union is strong and here to stay!
