Message from President, Joe Dixon
Welcome back. I hope you have had a long and restful summer and started what I'm sure will be a challenging and successful year. We have a lot of good work to do both inside the classroom and out. Together we will persevere.
The West Islip Teachers' Association has a new email address where you can send your concerns and questions. If you need to contact any of the officers on the executive board you can contact us at president@westislipteachers.org.
This year's total dues will be $945 which is the same amount as last year. We took $27,434.08 of surplus to keep the dues level and placed the rest of the surplus into reserve. We wanted the membership to receive two full paychecks before we begin collecting this year's dues so the first deduction will take place on October 20th.
We have transferred $3,000 of the Vote Cope money from last year's donations to this year's political action fund. There are many political battles to fight in the near future including the Constitutional Convention and the Right to Work movement. The Vote Cope deductions for this year will begin on October 20th as well and the Vote Cope change form that you received on the first day of school is due no later than Wednesday, October 4th. WITA has always counted on, and appreciated your contributions.
WITA is preparing for an upcoming arbitration and we need your assistance. If you are a teacher who is coaching in the district currently or have coached in the past, PLEASE take a brief moment to fill out this survey. The survey will only take a few minutes of your time and will be of great assistance to WITA. Please send the completed survey back to president@westislipteachers.org by next Friday, September 22nd. In Solidarity.
