A Message from the Executive Board
On Sunday, April 23rd, educators from across New York State met in Cedarhurst, here on Long Island, to support the Lawrence Teachers’ Association (LTA) in their fight for a fair contract. The Lawrence teachers are about to complete their twelfth year under an expired agreement, and new hires currently start their careers at one of the lowest salaries on Long Island. Facing unacceptable demands from the Lawrence School Board, the LTA asked surrounding districts to join them as they worked to raise awareness of their situation. Union members know workers are stronger when we stand together. The West Islip Teachers’ Association answered the call for support and marched in solidarity with them. We want to share some photos from the event and thank those who attended for your support.
